SCENE INVESTIGATIONS

Scene Investigations

Exero Claims conducts scene investigations throughout the Czech Republic when an insurance claim requires local inspection, documentation or enquiries at the location connected to an incident or loss.

A scene investigation can provide the claims professional with an independent record of the location and conditions observed when the investigator attends.

Scene Inspection and Documentation

Depending on the purpose of the assignment, a scene investigation may include:

  • Photographs of the location
  • General condition and layout
  • Access and exit points
  • Roads, intersections and traffic controls
  • Signs, markings and relevant physical features
  • Visibility and sight lines
  • Nearby businesses or properties
  • Potential witnesses
  • Other conditions relevant to the claim

The investigation is focused on the questions identified by the instructing client.

Motor and Road Traffic Claims

For motor and road traffic claims, an investigator can attend the location to document road layout, traffic controls, signs, markings, visibility and other relevant physical conditions.

Nearby businesses, properties or other potential sources of information can also be identified where relevant to the assignment.

Property and Liability Claims

Scene investigation can also support property and liability claims where documentation of a location or surrounding conditions is required.

The investigator records the conditions observed at the time of attendance.

Conditions can change after an incident. The report therefore identifies when the scene was attended and does not assume that conditions observed later were necessarily identical to those at the time of the incident.

Witness Enquiries

Where appropriate, local enquiries can be made to identify people who may have information concerning the incident.

If further investigation is authorized, witnesses can be interviewed and recorded statements obtained where appropriate.

Photographic Documentation

Photographs can be taken to document the location, relevant physical features and other conditions connected to the investigative purpose.

Images are included with the investigation report where appropriate.

Scope of Scene Investigation

Exero Claims provides investigative scene documentation and local field enquiries.

Reporting

The client receives a written report describing the scene attendance, observations, enquiries conducted and information developed.

Relevant photographs and supporting information are included where obtained.

The report distinguishes investigator observations from information provided by witnesses or other third parties.
